Meet our staff!
María Asunción Guzmán
My name is María Asunción Guzmán, I am 21 years old and I am from Managua, Nicaragua. A year and a half ago I moved to Costa Rica, and I recently graduated from International Relations, where I finished discovering my passion for debates, languages and cooperation projects. Among the things that I enjoy the most is meeting people from other countries and learning about their different cultures, but also sharing a little of mine with them. My family, my friends and these types of activities have built a lot of who I am today.

Kloe van der Wielen
Communication and Media Secretary
My name is Kloe van der Wielen, I'm a Costa Rican-American student currently living in San José, Costa Rica. This is my second year as part of the CRIMUN Secretariat. My role in the team is to ensure that all media utilized for this year's conference is clear and accessible to all users and to manage CRIMUN's Social Media pages. I am excited to be a part of this year's team as I seek to make the digital experience for delegates, chairs, other secretaries, and advisors as comfortable as possible.
I am Ivo Robelo Avilés, and I will be your logistics secretary during this edition of CRIMUN. I started in debating in 2018, and throughout my journey, I have participated in approximately 24 international models. I have served as a chair, participant, logistics support (secretariat), and as the secretary-general of the model. For me, this model represents a space for growth and a safe place. Beyond the model, I am 20 years old and studying Economics. I have been part of two university campuses (UAM, Pontifical Javeriana University). I worked as an accounting assistant for BDO Nicaragua and I am also involved with many organizations in economic analysis, debating, and other areas. Additionally, I am currently working as a model recruiter in Central America and in the first circle of economic sciences in Latin America. It will be a pleasure to meet all of you for the best conference in the region.
My name is Felipe Barrantes, I am from Heredia (Costa Rica) and at 19 years old I am navigating my first year of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Costa Rica. This year I will gladly be part of the Logistics team for CRIMUN 2023. I have been involved in Model United Nations since 2018. I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous conferences, be a chair, and now I am very happy to support the organizational part. Personally, MUN has greatly inspired me to challenge myself and understand the diversity of thought that is represented. Furthermore, I have learned to explore new perspectives and shape innovative solutions at all times. I am very passionate about the complex operation of international diplomacy and the power of dialogue to impact thousands of people. Being part of CRIMUN is a privilege and it will be a pleasure to have you here with the hope of returning to face-to-face after so long.
My name is Daylin Irazema Padilla Flores, I am from Nicaragua, I am 18 years old and I am currently studying my second year of Diplomacy and International Relations at the Universidad Americana (UAM). I discovered a new passion in debate models that has given me a different perspective on the conflicts that are present in our environment, because in a world full of adversities I try to find solutions to them. In addition, I have managed to develop abilities such as public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, argumentation, etc. I have participated as an active member of the debate club of my university for a year, likewise, in debate conferences such as PUJMUN VIII, Ludan Jr, in the first as a delegate and the second as a committee director, now I have the opportunity to form part of the CRIMUN 2023 Outreach Secretariat and at the same time bring this MUN opportunity to as many people as possible.
My name is Alexa Porras. I’m 16 years old Venezuelan that migrated to Costa Rica at 5 years old. I have been participating at Mun since I was 13 and participated in a total of 6 mun. I am Randald, a student pursuing a degree in Economics, with a specialization in Integration and Development at the Federal University of Latin American Integration, UNILA, in Foz de Iguazú, Brazil. I am truly passionate about international issues and enjoy exploring possible solutions for them. Aside from my academic pursuits, I am deeply devoted to theater, and it holds a special place in my life.
Over the years, I have developed a strong background as a young public speaker, and I have found my voice, unafraid to express my thoughts and ideas. People know me for my genuine interest in actively listening to others during conversations, as I believe that everyone has something incredible to contribute.
In 2018, I had the privilege to serve as the Secretary-General of CRIMUN. I have also been fortunate to be part of Costa Rica's Global Ambassadors and have actively participated in various international Model United Nations conferences, including Harvard MUN, Yale MUN, FerMUN, PUJMUN, and NICMUN. One of the most rewarding experiences was when, in January 2022, I had the honor of serving as the Secretary-General for YAGMUN by CRIMUN in Costa Rica. This conference was a significant milestone as it marked the first MUN conference in the country sponsored by the United Nations Costa Rica.
